Good morning everybody. I must apologise for not being in class today, but hopefully you find these instructions easy to follow. Please complete these activities in order.
Activity 1 - Media Watch analysis
This link will take you to a website with all recent episodes of Media Watch. Select an episode, any episode, and watch it. Once you have watched the episode, please respond to the following questions.

- Identify some of the errors made by journalists or media outlets highlighted by Media Watch.
- Were these errors avoidable?
- Why were these mistakes made?
- Is Media Watch an important program? Why/Why not?
Activity 2 - CAT reflection
You have recently completed CAT3. For your own benefit and the benefit of next semester’s class, please reflect on what went well and some areas for improvement. Please complete this task on your iPad so I can collect it easily:
- What did your group do well?
- What were some unforeseen pitfalls of the task?
- If you had your time again, would you change:
- Group structure
- Group roles
- Use of time
- Anything else
Activity 3 - Human Evolution mini-lesson
This link will take you to an article and some accompanying questions/tasks. Please read through the information and complete the following
- Answer the true or false questions.
- Answer both Student A and Student B questions.
- Discuss your answers with other members of your group.
- Complete the Speaking - Evolution ordering task at the bottom right of the page.
Activity 4 - One of two options
If you finish all three activities, you may complete one of the following activities:
- Write a letter to a journalist who has lost some credibility by being identified by Media Watch. Where did they go wrong? How can they ensure they get it right next time?
- Spend time reading news on one of the many outlets linked on the weebly homepage.
